Channeling…

While surfing the web the other day, I ran across a web page authored by a fellow intuitive…or so I thought she was. When I first started reading her bio she seemed genuine enough…until I dove in a little bit deeper. That is when I began to sense something was…off..

It seems that she wanted to convince herself and others that she is “special”, that she has power and that she herself can command God and other Higher Beings to do her bidding. She claimed that the vision, insight and intuition was all her, that she alone held the answers. No one else on the planet had the spiritual connections that she had. No one else possessed her power. Imagine the incredulous look that grew upon my face. All I could do is shake my head.

Let me set the record straight. No one on the planet has the power of God. No one holds all of the answers within them. At least from my understanding. I learned from an early age to humble myself, to appreciate the gifts that God has allowed to work through me and others, and to not get too full of myself, else wise I could end up on the wrong side of things. God, the Divine, Higher Beings and the deceased speak through us. We do not and cannot attain the same level without many lifetimes of trial and error and then I have not personally known or seen anyone upon this planet be able to fulfill the giant shoes of such beings. They can indeed speak through us if we allow it, because we all have the freedom of will to accept or decline such communication with Spirit. The Divine simply will not hand the keys of knowledge to just any old intuitive on this globe or any other. And it isn’t as easy as simply pulling a rabbit out of a hat or doing a card trick. Taking many years of application of opening of self and releasing of prohibitive energy, channeling spirit is the way it works. So…if you run into someone who claims to be all that and a bag of chips, please proceed with caution. They are most likely pulling your leg hoping some dollar bills will fall out of your wallet and into their hot little hands.

Channeling is how I receive messages from other places and I use that description very loosely. Every message that flows through has to be discerned before letting the message leave my lips. The cleansing, grounding, centering, opening and letting go of just enough personal energetic control while maintaining a thread of connection with the physical body and mental faculties is not for the faint of heart. For when one channels, they lend their body, in essence moving over while spiritual beings access the faculties of speech, brain waves and feeling that makes for a successful transmission. And whether it is a Higher Being or a deceased loved one, the methods are always the same. The process being much like full blown dreaming while wide awake, varying in different degrees depending on the connection. Some channelings are awake and aware, while others are fully immersed, the channeler not fully aware of the message flowing forth. The feeling while it is happening is very strange and nothing like anyone has ever experienced in the more common modalities of the intuitive arts. It is hard to explain. I am sure it is different for everyone, but for me it is a feeling of presence behind and above my head which builds in pressure at the back of my head. This signal allows me to prepare to “open” for the transmission which most of the time I can hear and am fully aware of what is going on during the channeling. I chalk this up to my reluctance to give up complete control of my body and faculties to the entity, and maybe one day soon I can get past that insecurity. That being said, the entities work with me. They are loving and understand my apprehension at letting them drive. So, they let me keep my hands upon the steering wheel, never once complaining. ūüôā

The point of this message here today is to remind everyone who takes stock in other worldly messages from beyond moving through human beings is to make sure to keep it humble. Remember who gives us life. Honour the Divine in all things. And only give credit where credit is due. This way a delicate balance is kept and the way is opened for more blessings to enter our lives. I am not special. It has taken a good long while to get to this point in my life. It was not easy. For I am just a human being after all…

Twenty One Questions: Tarot Spreads…

“Good morning, Gypsy! I have a question that I hope you will be able to help me with. It’s about tarot spreads. I am so confused! I have read books and watched other readers, all to no avail. Spreads leave me feeling bewildered in that I have a hard time trying to keep all the designations and positions straight in my mind. It turns tarot reading from being fun into being a major pain in my backside. Help!” ~ Terri A.

Seriously, I know exactly how you feel. Early on in the beginning of my Tarot journeys, I too felt a bit overwhelmed about spreads. It seemed that everyone had their own way of laying out the cards, adding to that the impression – sometimes quite aggressively, I might add! – that their way was the only way to do it, leaving me feeling more than a little. Then it dawned on me. Tarot doesn’t have to be defined by someone else’s rules. In fact, the whole function of the Tarot is as a tool to access higher realms of consciousness and communication with the world of Spirit and Higher Self. What difference does it make how one gets there. And so it goes. It was in those early days that I discovered that I was the master of my own Tarot ship and the Captain of that journey. So, I decided to invent my own spreads…ones that made the most sense to me, ones that resonated with my own psyche, ones that helped me to achieve the best and most efficient way of communication with the places and beings that I needed to engage in the best interests of my clients as well as myself. And the rest is history…

My advice to you is to play with the way you lay out the cards in such a way as has the most meaning for you. It could involve numbers of cards pulled, the shape of the spread, or even the style of what I call “winging it”…that is, letting Spirit suggest the ways and means of the way you lay out the images before you. Let Spirit move you. I do a mixture of both. When reading for clients, I normally use a set formula for spreads in order to keep it fair among all my clientele so that everyone receives the same type of spread energy. But once in a while, Spirit will suggest a deviation from the norm to achieve better results in any particular situation or reading. I am always open to Spirit for such proddings and follow in kind. (After all, the first rule of the psychic arts is to never second guess yourself or Spirit.) And then during almost all of my own personal self readings, I let Spirit guide me as to the type of spread I use on any given day. It all just depends on what They feel is right for me on that day, at that moment. Getting to this place with Spirit, of course, takes practice and time, so be patient with Spirit and yourself while walking the path in this way.

Bottom line is this: go with what you feel is right. If certain traditional spreads resonate with you more or the discipline of using pre-made spreads gives you more control or a greater sense of accomplishment in your reading, or better results for you and your client over all, then most definitely go with those. If, on the other hand, you feel confused or tied down by a divinitory dogma that doesn’t seem to jibe or suit your style or purpose, then by all means let those creative juices flow! The rule here is this…there just ain’t no rules when it comes to Tarot spreads. Your question is a viable one, to be sure. Hope this helps. ūüôā

Twenty One Questions: Mediumship Part Too…

In reference to the preceding question, are you saying that if one is not born with the gift of mediumship that the average shmoe cannot communicate with the dead? Is it hopeless?

…Diane I.

That isn’t what I mean at all. Just because someone cannot see or hear the dead does not mean that the dead cannot see or hear you. Communication from them to us is not the whole point in most cases. Anyone can open up the channel between ourselves and the spirit world. When you expect some sort of compensation in the form of a condition when talking to the deceased, then it becomes a situation where the living is wanting some sort of gratification. This is where a lot of folks become disillusioned, disappointed and bored with the whole thing. And why is this? Could it be that they want to connect with the dead for some sort of entertainment or to make themselves feel important? Motive in this type of endeavor is very important. So, if one sets out from the very beginning with no expectations except for to put their departed loved on at ease, then success will be much more likely than if one does it just for the thrill of it all.

The deceased really like to be remembered. They love sacred spaces set up in our private places so as to have a zone of their own to settle their energy within your own space. It can be as simple or elaborate as you wish. The usual items to be found in an ancestral sacred space is usually a photo or likeness of the person who has transitioned, a candle and a place for an offering, such as a plate for favourite foods, a vase for flowers or a spot for trinkets that they liked in life. Think shells, rocks, books, keepsakes and the like. Depending on each one’s religious leanings…both the person on this side putting together the space and the decease’s¬† preferences…religious items can be added as well. The sky is the limit and there really is no hard rules when putting together an ancestral space. Just use common sense and work from the heart.

Whispers, prayers, conversations, regards, notes and letters…they all matter to the dead. There was a philosophy between my kin that went like this… “Whenever we mention the name of a departed loved one that person knows they are remembered and can actually feel the sentiment behind the memory.” ¬† So, do not be shy about it. In ancient times, the deceased were embalmed and kept with their families for a very long time and treated as if they were still alive and contributing to the family in a very real physical way. (Yeah…that had to be very weird, huh?) We actually don’t have to go that far to include them. Just give them a little space where they can “live” within your space and you will have their ear and access to them in a very real way whenever the “spirit” moves.

I guess what it boils down to is motive. What are the reasons one wants to communicate with the dearly departed? If it is ego centered and for their own personal gratification, one should look elsewhere for such kinds of entertainment. But if someone is sincere in wanting to put the dead at ease, help them to transition in a smooth and peaceful way, and honour them in the best way possible, they should try not to focus on proof or physical results, but instead concentrate on helping the dead in a most giving and unselfish manner. That is when we may finally notice a sign…a supernatural signal…that can only be earned by sincere love and wanting to serve the departed in a pure and honourable way. Because that is the key to mediumship in the first place…a pure and open heart filled with love and giving in a most unselfish and charitable manner.

Remember...

When Disaster Strikes…

It never seems to fail…whenever there is some sort of disaster or major event where there are a lot of folks transitioning it always seems like it effects me in many disturbing ways. First is the empathy. I feel so badly when things like this happen. I’m speaking of mass death disasters generally and this last GermanWings air disaster specifically. First, the loss of life is so horrendous to me that it is almost impossible for me to wrap my head around it. I become consumed with the thought of the event and how it effects the survivors and families of the victims. Then, there is the disappointment in the humanity of the perpetrator or lack thereof. I just cannot understand how someone could do such a thing. Then…night time settles in…night after night. That is when the dead come to speak with me about such things, those who have passed because of the event or others who are stirred from their sleep because of it. The visits and communications become a commonplace occurrence night after night until finally they die down, having communicated and said what it is that they have come to say, getting it off their chests so that they can once again rest peacefully or get on with their ethereal lives. It never fails to surprise me and catch me off guard whenever it happens, but the initial stimulus is almost always the same…mass exodus. This time was no different.

My heart and prayers go out to the victims and families, survivors and loved ones in this tragic and sad time. May everyone eventually find peace and forgiveness, acceptance and faith in the coming days and weeks and months and years…

Conjure Secrets…Gypsy Style!

Conjure…conjures up all sorts of things within one’s mind. Usually whoever is attached to that mind sees their pre-conceived notions regarding the practice through a fevered religious¬† or ethnic hued stained glass of their own choosing. Which is fine. But there is a line drawn that separates the authentic from the fakers. What most folks new to conjure do not realize is that line exists at all. They have to look for it in order to not get all caught up in the place that lives between what is true conjure and what is merely mind control¬†hooey. At the heart of conjure lies three things…

old church1The first is the ancestors…our own and others. It is very important to be able to commune with the ancestors so as to draw from their knowledge and experience. If one does not honour their ancestors during conjure workings then the outcome will probably be less than desirable. Then the question will be…why waste your time?¬† The key is that connection with them, no matter who they are or where they came from. Whether you are Russian Orthodox or Jewish or Native American or Irish or African or Southern American or Martian or what have you, where your family comes from, who they are, how you were raised and what you believe is at the very heart and core of successful, uplifting, powerful conjure work. There is no market cornered by any ethnic or religious group. So, if someone tells you that then they are full of crap and just wanting to intimidate you or throw you off your own path seeking a magical life. So, if someone tells you to discard what your family has established over tens if not hundreds of years…say “no, thank you” and walk away.

The second thing is tradition. I see it all the time all over the interwebz mostly where each tradition or style of conjure is so busy at trying to corner the market on conjure that they taint their work before they even start. The “my juju is better than your juju because I am (fill in the blank) religion/path/whatever” is an excuse for lack of knowledge and laziness. There is no one true tradition attached to conjure work. And this ties in with the first thing mentioned above…the ancestors. We all want to carry on family traditions be they old family recipes, a certain way to celebrate important days of the year, or unique and unusual routines that are passed down from generation to generation. Some traditions stick for many decades or even centuries. Even new ones come from time to time as each generation is handed the torch of keeping those time honoured ¬†ways. But to throw all those years of experience through the blood, sweat and tears of our beloveds? That would be a Fool’s errand, that. So, if you come across one of these “superior juju” types…show them your backside and walk away.

The third thing is the most important thing…faith. Without faith and belief then one;s conjure will likely be dead or barely breathing. Faith lives through us. Faith is what makes us who we are in the eyes of God or Gods or whomever you pray to. Some so-called conjure folks think that it is they themselves who possess power of strength or whatever it is that makes things work. But that is false and a lie. It is God that has the power. He or She or They are the ones who allow the power force to work through us by our own faith and nothing originates within us. It flows through us by the Grace of the Divine. We are instruments of their love for us. They give us nothing that we don’t deserve or have not earned. So if a conjure “doctor” tells you that he himself – a mere human being – is all mighty and most powerful…walk the other way. He or she is a charlatan and nothing more with delusions of grandeur. Pray for them to see the error of their ways and for them to stay off the path of would-be victims, that those would-be victims¬†be protected from such ignorance.

Once you have these three very important things as the foundation that supports the work beneath you, the path to success in helping yourself and others to heal their lives will be cradled in the palms of your hands. To not have this solid foundation is like building castles in the air. Either they will never materialize or they will fall before you even get started. As long as you have the ancestors, tradition and faith as the staples for your work, there is nothing that you cannot accomplish!

Mediumship…

…the thing that you can’t unsee…or the bell that you can’t unring.

I get a lot of calls from people, mostly women, who want to “learn” how to be a medium. The notion is amusing to me. Mediumship is something that really can’t be learned. The adage that says…”everyone can develop psychic skills. Mediums are born.” is true.

Mediumship...These folks who want to be able to commune with the dead, they think it is fun or a funny game. But I assure you that it is anything but fun or funny. Sensing, as in seeing, hearing and feeling the dead is more serious than anyone but a true medium can imagine. I get calls and requests many times weekly for me to come to a party and command the dead, drawing them up like so many trained lions. It makes me shake my head. I always respectfully decline and they just don’t understand that, thinking I am being rude or snobbish. The dead deserve respect just as any living person deserves it. Maybe even more so…

Every once in a while I will get a call from someone who is genuinely being bothered by the deceased. They are just your average person, a soccer mom, an auto mechanic, a secretary, a nurse. They hear the voices or see the shadows of the dead and they think they are loosing it. I gently tell them that they are opening to their own Mediumship abilities and they are dumbfounded! I think they would much rather believe that they really are just a tad touched in the head but they are just as sane as the next person. These are the precious ones, the ones that I help and guide into their new found abilities. For you see, it is the innocent ones who truly have the gift. Those who are humble of heart are the ones who truly open.

Messages can come at all hours of the day or night, startling…unexpected…unsettling, but at the same time comforting them, hearing their messages, validating their existences is really where the rewards lie. Because the miracle is for them being recognized as being alive in the spirit and seen by this dimension, that is a feat of accomplishment for many of those who have crossed over. Recognizing them from this side much less amazing but still a thing to wonder at all the same, for nothing happens without God’s designing plan. Just think how you would feel if you got on a plane to travel afar and as soon as you leave their field of vision the living¬†imagine that you exist no more, never to be glimpsed again…when you know that nothing could be farther from the truth. But this is what the living¬†believe. And if you come back from that trip and stand right in front of them they still do not believe, well…that is a sad and lonely thing indeed. This is the way of it for many of our departed. They can see us from where they are but we have a very hard time seeing them generally. And it is distressing to them sometimes. And so it goes.

What I suggest to everyone that will listen is to keep on trying to develop their own unique intuitive skills and not try to focus on just talking with the dead. If your vision remains myopic then nothing will come of it but disappointment at the failure. If one is meant to open then it will happen, and most of the time when one least expects it or is not even really trying at all. But remember this…it is not something that you can forget, unlearn, leave behind or turn off like a switch upon the wall. For mediums are born with the ability and open to it when they are ready. Watch for the signs. Work on the interior journey of the spirit. That is when you will finally recognize your true calling.

It says in the Bible…”For to one is given through the Spirit the utterance of wisdom, and to another the utterance of knowledge according to the same Spirit, to another faith by the same Spirit, to another gifts of healing by the one Spirit, to another the working of miracles, to another prophecy, to another the ability to distinguish between spirits, to another various kinds of tongues, to another the interpretation of tongues.” (1 Corinthians 12:8-10) All one can hope to do is keep the candle burning in the window for our loved ones in¬†spirit to see. They will come to you and you will see and hear them if it is truly meant to be. So the money that you might spend on mediumship class after mediumship class and give it to the poor. Have faith and watch for your true gifts to emerge. They are closer to the surface than you could ever imagine…

Animals in Spirit…

Angel KittyMany folks come to me and ask if their pets have gone to heaven and are waiting for them on the other side.

The answer is a resounding YES! It may be surprising for most to discover that a great many if not nearly all of my clients who are pet owners have the energy of their pets surrounding them, whether the dear one is with them on this plane or have transitioned on to the Other Side.  We carry the love of our four-leggeds with us everywhere and at all times. They are a part of who we are and complete us just as our children do, but in a little bit of a different way. Whether it is a person, a child or a beloved animal that we love and cherish, the love that we share each unto the other leaves an imprint upon our souls that never leaves us and is always there with us no matter which dimension we reside in. The bond of love is just that strong. And it is a very, very good thing.

The very first spiritual entity that I came into contact with was when I was the age of five. It was that of a little bird who had drowned in a bucket of water. While his body was floating upon the water,¬†the apparition of his spirit¬†was perched upon the side of the pail, singing and free. The appearance of this very first little spirit opened the door for a lifetime of spirit communication for me where spirits of other animals, humans, guides and angels all passed through to share with me the wonders of their realm. Little did I realize at the time that when I would experience my own brief journey to the Other Side my experiences with spirit would be of a great help for me in understanding the significance of the event, helping to propel me onto a path of spiritual healing for myself as well as others who happen to cross my path…both two-legged and four. It was that tiny little bird spirit that¬†had such an impact upon me and at¬† such a young and tender age. That one little spirit changed my life almost before it had begun. That is the wonder of the spirit realms. That is as it should be.

Humans and animals make this journey initially in much the same way. But once they make the crossing, things are a little different for the two energies in that there is a specific style difference in which humans and animals experience when they first transition to the realms beyond,¬†mainly in the way that they¬†acclimate with their new surroundings once they transition. While people take a little bit of time getting used to their new surroundings, animals are not concerned with their new “digs” as they are already existing on a more natural state of light vibration before and after transition. They are unfettered by the switch,¬†unconcerned by their state of spirit and have a tendency to return to us much quicker than a human spirit might. They just want to be by our side, comforting us and loving us just as much if not more than when they walked upon this plane of existence with us. They pay no mind to the change. They walk with us and lick our hand or rub our legs just as they always did. It is up to us to open our hearts to the fact that they are truly there, that they still walk with us from day to day, and that they never really leave our sides. They hold a place of sentinel¬†at the door between here and there, waiting to greet us and aid us in our own personal¬†transitioning.¬† In the meantime, however, they walk with us, keep an eye on us and are their to help us now just as they did then. Until we meet up¬†with them again…we must lift them up in love and faith. Until then…know that they walk with us every single day…
